Severe Weather Shelter Resources
Jefferson County Public Health issues notifications related to health alerts and advisory, which prompts cold weather activation. Activation updates will be posted on www.headinghomejeffco.com and www.jeffco.us. Representatives will convene 72 hours in advance of impending weather to prepare for an activation and declaration based on forecast. Broader public facing notification will occur no later than twelve (12) hours prior to shelter operations.

Cold weather response typically operates from October 1 through April 30th each year when nighttime low temperatures are projected to be 32°F or colder with accumulation of precipitation (snow) greater than one inch over a 24-hour period or 20°F or lower with or without precipitation. Cold weather activation may be suspended based on the consideration of additional factors.
